Thames Valley Police Second Location

Following our highly successful Bi-Fold gate project for Thames Valley Police earlier in summer 2020, we were asked to design and install a replacement automated gate system for another critical Thames Valley station. Again, we were to act as Principal Contractor, coordinating all other trades and services, including groundworks, Access Control and Electrical sub-contractors.

The Brief

Over a tightly controlled 2-week program, we removed the old gates and automation system, carried out extensive groundworks (including a huge 900×1300 excavation for the gate control tower) and installed a new CEN9500HD Bi-Fold Gate System, complete with new thermoplastic lining, tarmac, mesh fencing infills and access pedestals.

The Solution

Recognising that our solution had to provide a highly secure and completely reliable automated system combined with a high-speed operation for when Response Vehicles are leaving the station, we designed our solution around the CEN9500HD Bi-Fold Gate System.

Our bi-folding trackless speed gates typically open at more than twice the speed of traditional swinging gates of an equivalent size which ensures a fast flow of traffic whilst maintaining security of the site. They are rated for 100% Continuous Operation Duty Cycle and are fully compliant to BS/EN 12453.

For overall look and finish, we specified a 358 mesh infill and a Power Coated RAL 5012 colour scheme. So that the adjoining pedestrian gate and infill panels matched our proposed gates, we allowed to remove these from site, shot blast and powder coat to RAL 5012.

The End Result

The completed project totally refreshes the existing entry point into the site, and provides a secure, compliant, reliable and fast acting security perimeter.
