Nottinghamshire Police is the territorial police force responsible for policing the county of Nottinghamshire and the unitary authority of Nottingham in the East Midlands of England. The area has a population of just over 1 million.
Century Fire & Security Ltd are proud to provide Service & Maintenance, Emergency Breakdown Support and Contracted Installation Works to the Automated Gate & Barrier Systems installed in their stations, training centres and offices across the area.
The Brief
We were approached by Nottinghamshire Police, after they had seen our recently installed Bi-Fold Gates at Leicestershire Police HQ in Enderby, to re-design and replace an existing automated gate entry system which had reached the end of its life, located at one of their Conference & Training Centres.
The previous layout didn’t allow adequate room for large vehicles and the former sliding gate had reached the end of its life, repeated component failures and a slow opening speed meant that it was no longer fit for purpose.

The Installation
The existing sliding gate motor is disconnected and the gate prepared for removal
The gate is cut down into sections in situ and removed from site
New concrete bases and inspection hatches are formed
The existing askew island is removed
A new smaller traffic island is prepared
Day 1 of gates arriving on site and bolted into place
The End Result
The completed project totally refreshes the existing entry point into the site, and provides a secure, compliant, reliable and fast acting security perimeter.
